EMPLOYMENT AT HIGHLAND

Highland's faculty and staff of 100 bring a wealth of experiences to our campus, classrooms, field studies, and athletic fields. We are always looking for talented individuals to join the Highland community in a variety of teaching, administrative, coaching, and supporting roles. 
Applications for faculty and staff positions are accepted all year. However, most decisions regarding new members of the faculty are made from January through April. We are always interested in attracting new and interesting faculty and staff and would love to hear from you. BUS DRIVER POSITIONS

Highland School has an opening for an Activity Bus Driver to transport students to sports activities and field studies. Requirements: CDL Class B Driver’s License with a P endorsement, clean driving record, able to pass a background and drug check. Hours are varied, so flexibility is a must. Competitive pay at $30 per hour.

  • Upper School Faculty Positions

    Upper School Social Science Teacher 
    The Upper School Social Science teacher reports to the Upper School Director and collaborates with other Upper School teachers. Through its demanding academic and co-curricular programming, the Upper School places a strong emphasis on leadership formation, personalized learning, and experiential education.

    Students take three full-year credits: Western European History, Global History, US History, as well as a half credit of Government. In addition,
    there are honors and AP-level courses as well as semester electives. Social Science faculty contribute to covering these classes; it is anticipated that the primary need will be in Global and US History. The capacity to teach across departments, particularly Social Science and English, is valuable.

    Upper School Math Teacher 
    The Upper School Math teacher reports to the Upper School Director and collaborates with other Upper School teachers. Through its
    demanding academic and co-curricular programming, the Upper School places a strong emphasis on leadership formation, personalized learning, and experiential education.

    The Math Department offers courses from Algebra I through AP Calculus BC. Full-time faculty typically teach five sections of two to three different courses; flexibility across the math curriculum, even across Middle School and Upper School divisions, is valuable.

    Upper School English Teacher 
    The Upper School English teacher reports to the Upper School Director and collaborates with other Upper School teachers. Through its demanding academic and co-curricular programming, the Upper School places a strong emphasis on leadership formation, personalized learning, and experiential education.

    As a graduation requirement, students take a full-year English class each year. The English Department curriculum emphasizes the development of writing skills, critical reading and analysis, oral communication, and engagement with texts across all genres and time periods. The department also offers half-credit electives.

    The English Department faculty each contributes to covering these classes; it is anticipated that the primary need will be for English II, which focuses on global literature. The capacity to teach across departments, particularly Social Science and English, is valuable.

  • Middle School Faculty Positions

    Middle School Math Teacher 
    The Middle School Math teacher reports to the Middle School Director and collaborates with other Middle School teachers. The Middle School places a strong emphasis on habits of learning, which include a growth mindset, personal responsibility, communication, and organization.

    This position could teach classes ranging from Math 5 through Algebra 1. The program is designed to make students aware of the structure and organization of the field of mathematics and to prepare them to live in a world increasingly dominated by technology and quantitative
    methods. The curriculum serves students with different learning styles and abilities, enabling them to gain confidence and expand their mathematical skills to become effective problem solvers and communicators of mathematical ideas. Students also develop logical reasoning and critical analysis skills.

    The Middle School Social Studies teacher reports to the Middle School Director and collaborates with other Middle School teachers. The Middle School places a strong emphasis on habits of learning, which include a growth mindset, personal responsibility, communication, and
    organization.

    It is anticipated that this position will teach two sections of grade seven, with a focus on World History, and two sections of grade eight, with a focus on American History. There is a possibility of teaching a 5th- or 6th-grade class that focuses on Ancient Civilizations.

    The curriculum places a heavy emphasis on developing historical thinking and critical analysis skills. Students learn to defend their assertions, both orally and in writing, with supporting evidence.

  • Lower School and Early Childhood Faculty Positions

    Lower School Academic Dean and Preschool Coordinator
    Highland School seeks an experienced educator to serve as Lower School Academic Dean and Preschool Coordinator. This dual-role position combines administrative leadership with direct instructional responsibilities. The position leads preschool division communications and faculty support, assists the Lower School Director with Lower School operations, and coordinates the Project Innovation Lab’s technical and instructional functions. A master’s degree and the ability to connect early childhood development with elementary academic success are required.

  • Administrative Staff Positions

    Business Office Manager
    Highland School is currently hiring for a Business Office Manager. This position works closely with the Director of Finance & Operations and other school administration and employees to support Highland School’s business and administrative operations. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance & Operations, the Business Office Manager serves as the primary day-to-day liaison to the School’s remote outsourced accounting firm. The ideal candidate is highly customer service–oriented, has strong attention to detail, and leverages technology to streamline and optimize business processes.
