Highland students develop the drive to serve within a culture of trust and honor where lockers don’t need locks, teachers greet them by name, and contributing to the community becomes instinct, not obligation.

At Highland, trust is real and honor isn’t performative; it’s practiced. Students learn early that doing the right thing matters, not because it’s enforced, but because it’s expected.

Service learning strengthens character and connects students to something larger than themselves. Through meaningful, hands-on work beyond the classroom, students at all grade levels build self-awareness, broaden their perspective, and apply what they are learning to real needs in their school, their community, and the world.

From that foundation grows something powerful: empathy rooted in action and leadership shaped by contribution. Highland students don’t chase recognition. They step forward because they understand the value of their participation.

A Community of Learners

From Senior–Kindergarten Buddies to Middle School leadership opportunities and beyond, Highland intentionally connects students across grades so belonging isn’t accidental. It’s built, practiced, and felt every day and the results can be remarkable.
Dynamic Social Intelligence

Whether collaborating on a robotics team, performing on the stage in the Rice Theater, competing on a state-title athletic team, or leading a service project, Highland students practice listening, communicating, and navigating differences. These experiences help to build the emotional intelligence that defines responsible citizenship.
Expedition Behavior

Through Field Studies, service initiatives, athletics, arts performances, internships, and leadership certificates, students recognize that growth happens when you try something new and contribute beyond yourself.
Intentional Relationships

With small classes, long-standing faculty, and a culture where teachers greet students by name, Highland students are deeply known, academically, personally, and relationally, by adults and peers who take their growth seriously and support them every step of the way.
