Highland students develop the confidence to lead by owning their journey, personalizing their learning pathways, pursuing passions with intensity, and creating new lanes when none exist. Before students can lead others, they must learn to lead themselves.

At Highland, no two student pathways look the same, and that’s the point. Students own their learning journeys and are empowered to dive deeply into their passions and interests. By knowing their own strengths, they know where they can make the greatest impact.

From the earliest grades, Highland students speak up. They learn to advocate for themselves, to recalibrate after setbacks, and to be brave in spaces that feel unfamiliar, including in the woods, on the stage, on the field, in front of a room. Public speaking is woven into the culture, so confidence isn’t something they “develop someday;” it becomes second nature.

As they grow and evolve, students pursue advanced coursework and design independent studies that fit their goals and interests. If there isn’t a lane, they make one. Highland students graduate knowing who they are, and that clarity becomes their advantage.

Personalized Learning Journeys

Highland’s curriculum is deliberately student-centered: teachers tailor instruction across grades, and no two Highland students follow the same path. With small classes, differentiated math tracks, certificate programs in areas like Global Studies and Entrepreneurship, and a Learning Center that supports every learner, Highland ensures each student’s strengths and ambitions actively shape their experience.
Exploration and Ownership

Highland students don’t simply participate; they co-create their journey, leading Color Wars teams, serving on the Prefect Board, designing capstone projects, or stepping into roles that push them beyond comfort and into confidence.
