The Middle School Social Studies teacher reports to the Middle School Director and collaborates with other Middle School teachers. The Middle School places a strong emphasis on habits of learning, which include a growth mindset, personal responsibility, communication, and
organization.
It is anticipated that this position will teach two sections of grade seven, with a focus on World History, and two sections of grade eight, with a focus on American History. There is a possibility of teaching a 5th- or 6th-grade class that focuses on Ancient Civilizations.
The curriculum places a heavy emphasis on developing historical thinking and critical analysis skills. Students learn to defend their assertions, both orally and in writing, with supporting evidence.
