Ways to Give

Make a gift to Highland School

Tuition builds the school. Giving builds the difference. At Highland, philanthropy isn't a formality. It's how a community says that it believes that every child deserves teachers who know them by name, programs that stretch them, and a place designed to help them thrive. When you give, you don't fund a line item. You fund the journey.

Giving isn't charity. It's belief in action

Every strong school runs on more than tuition.

Tuition covers the essentials. It doesn't cover the extras that make a Highland education distinct — the Field Studies that take learning into the woods and the bay, the small classes that let teachers know each student deeply, the arts and athletics that turn discovery into confidence. Giving closes that gap. It funds the difference between adequate and exceptional, for these students, in this school year.

That's why families, alumni, grandparents, and local businesses step forward. They've seen what a gift does. They give because they believe.

What your gift actually does

A gift to Highland isn't abstract. You can see it, hear it, and watch it grow. You're not giving to a budget. You give to a student who will walk into the world ready.

  • Funds field studies experiences across divisions

Your support puts students in the field. Sixth-graders release trout they've raised and test stream water, fourth graders hike a part of the Appalachian Trail, and upper schoolers visit Capitol Hill because donors fund the experiences that extend learning beyond the textbook.
  • Brings The Rice Theater to life

Suport from our alumni, current families, and local businesses helps to bring The Rice Theater to life. Sets get built, instruments get played, and students find their voice on stage because the arts stay fully supported.
  • Fuels the science labs and the robotics bay

Because of our community, Team Robohawk travels to regional competitions, students design, solder, and write code, and our STEM programs stay hands-on because your generous support keeps it that way.
  • Keeps class sizes small

The small class sizes that giving maintains help teachers know every student by name because the Highland community invests in the people who do the knowing.
  • Builds the athletics teams

Giving helps build the teams that represent Highland regionally, across the state, and around the nation. Twenty-five state championships and 85% student participation don't happen by accident. They happen when a community backs the athletes who make us proud in both victory and defeat.

Why giving matters more than ever

The strongest schools aren't built once. They're built every year.

Highland has grown since 1928 through families who chose to give more than was required. Every classroom, every program, every tradition your child enjoys today exists because someone before you invested in students they would never meet. Giving is how one generation hands the next a stronger school than the one it inherited.

When you give, you join that line. You honor the families who came before you. And you pass Highland forward, better than you found it.

The Highland Fund: The heart of annual giving

The Annual Fund is where giving does its most immediate work.

It doesn't wait. It doesn't sit in reserve. Every dollar goes to work this year in the classrooms, on the fields, in the studios, and in the experiences that define a Highland education right now. When you give to the Annual Fund, you invest in the students walking the halls today.

Small gifts matter. Large gifts matter. Participation matters most of all, because a community that gives together is a community that believes together.

Who gives and why?

There's no single reason to give. There are many, and they all point the same direction.

  • Parents give because they see the difference every day, in a child who speaks up, competes with integrity, and comes home changed.
  • Alumni give because Highland shaped who they became. In fact, many come back to lead, coach, and teach the next generation.
  • Grandparents give because they want to watch their grandchildren grow inside a place built to help them flourish.
  • Local businesses give because a strong school makes a stronger community.

Different reasons. One belief. Highland is worth investing in.

Give to the journey

Every Highland journey depends on the people who choose to invest in it.

Your gift doesn't disappear into an account. It shows up in a student's confidence, a coach's championship, a young scientist's first real discovery. It shows up in the school your child walks into every morning.
