Meet Our Faculty
Ms. Angeline Cancio-Bello
I believe “Learning a language is not a separate island; is an important component of our global evolving world”
I love to teach; especially a tool that can open doors to other cultures and unite differences. I am a native speaker with fifteen years of formal classroom training/education. I taught at the VA Governor's Foreign Language Academies, Wakefield Country Day School, Grymes Memorial School, Catholic Diocese of Arlington and St Luke's School.
I am delighted to teach at Highland School for a second year and support a learning environment that fosters both academic and personal growth. Highland has become for me and my son (Class ’16) our family and community.
Some of my professional highlights include the development and implementation of Spanish Program, the design of the AP Spanish Language and Culture AP Course and implementation of language immersion and service travel programs. In addition, I contributed to the international exchange program sponsoring students from China, Korea, India and Japan.
I spend my summers planning and immersing myself in other cultures and sharing this time with my family. Some of my favorite memories are celebrating Spanish World Cup Championship in Spain, living like a local and speaking Spanish in Italy and I am always excited to get back in the classroom share stories with my students.
My Education/ Professional Memberships
Master of Arts (education /psychology); Teacher Certificate VCEA; American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese
If someone asks me today; what I want to be when I grow up, I will answer, “ I want to be a Spanish Teacher”….
