My introduction to Highland School was through my two daughters, Amanda and Molly who have been a part of the Highland community over the last 16 years. I had been the classroom assistant to Grades 1 and 2 for seven years before I shifted focus to the Lower School PE position. I was thrilled with the opportunity to instill the love of fitness to the young and eager students of the Lower School. In addition to my Lower School duties, I have also been coaching competitive gymnastics on an off over the last 32 years. I have coached many state and regional champions as well as Level 9 and 10 National Team members. Gymnastics education is a fun and safe activity that challenges kids physically and I enjoy integrating many of the same strength and fitness activities into the Lower School Physical Education program. PE provides a good, solid fitness foundation, but also provides many other benefits, from socialization skills to life skills to the basic movements that enhance performance in many different sports. 'Intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong.' John F. Kennedy
