Meet Our Faculty
Mr. David Fatula
I have been teaching people to play guitar and sing since I was very young. As young as 9, I was showing my father new ways to play the blues he had taught me years earlier. When I came to Highland in 2004, I found a new family, a new group of enthusiastic students and teachers. And I was given the freedom to teach guitar in a very personal way and that bloomed into an opportunity to start a second then a third guitar class, and then a Jazz Band in 2008. We started with 3 students in the program and now over 50% of the Upper School is learning guitar, A Capella singing, Sound Technologies, or Jazz.
I could not have designed a better place for me to follow the passion of sharing music. My supervisor, Michael Hughes, loves new ideas and thrives on the satisfaction of our music and drama students. We continue to talk about how amazing it is that we have the resources to allow any and every student to dip their toes in the creative world of music and drama.
I am in the right place and we have the tools to continue growing this program. I cannot imagine another place where I would have such continual, unending support. And this unending support bolsters and unending interest in new things for our students to try.
