A message from the President:

The Parents Association of Highland School takes pride in organizing a variety of service-oriented and fundraising events throughout the school year.  Some of these events include Monday and Friday lunch programs, a Mother/Son Picnic, Sally Foster Gift Wrap sale, Head Start Holiday Book drive, Teacher Appreciation luncheon, a Father/Daughter Dance, Grocery Store Bonus Program, School Supply Sale and operation of the school store, the Hawks Nest. Your generous support of these events and programs allows us to re-invest proceeds directly back to the school.

During the 2007-2008 school year, the Parents Association was able to raise over $52,000 through its various events. Funds were utilized for a variety of “wish list” needs from faculty including continuing education for faculty, computer software, new playground equipment, stage equipment, renovation of the Middle School writing lab and seating for Upper School outdoor areas. In addition, the Parents Association was able to make a $15,000 donation to Highland’s Endowment fund.

All Highland parents are members of the Parents Association.  The Board is made up of one parent representative per grade and an Executive Committee.  The Board meets monthly and there are three general membership meetings during the school year. 

I hope that each of you will consider becoming involved with Parent Association activities.  As you can see from the events and programs listed above, there are many ways you can help.  Even an hour or two a week can make a difference.  So consider helping serve lunch on a Monday or Friday or take a shift in our school store.  It’s a great opportunity to see first-hand why the community of parents, faculty and administration at Highland School is so special!
