Castles and Kings—Bringing Fairytales to Life!
Week One

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Cost: $155

Explore favorite fairytales through unique and exciting arts and crafts.  Projects will include painting, mask making and a variety of other hands-on activities designed to bring out the imagination in everyone!

Harry Potter Magic Ceramics - No Longer Available
Week One
Instructor: M. Corcoran
Ages: 9-12
Time: 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Cost: $210

Camp includes 16 pieces of greenware.  Students will smooth the edges and even the bottoms of all pieces.  The pieces will be fired overnight.  The rest of the week will be spent underglazing, glazing and staining pieces.

Discovering Digital Photography
Week One
Instructor: M. Curtis
Ages: 9-18
Time: 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Cost: $155

Explore the world of digital photography.  Campers will learn how to take great photos with digital cameras then use Adobe Photoshop to turn them into amazing pieces of art.  Students will need to bring their own camera.

Dinosaurs & Fossils
Week Two

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Dig into the world of prehistoric creatures! Uncover interesting facts about the creatures who roamed the land before time, become a junior paleontologist on a fossil dig and learn why dinosaurs are no longer around. Campers will make a plaster of paris mold of a fossil. Arts and crafts, stories and games will take you back in time. The week ends with a dinosaur piñata—wait till you see what hatches!

Technokids I
Week Two

In this fun filled technology camp, campers use computers to visit pirates, become knights, create fabulous works of art and much more. Join us for an exciting week full of endless possibilities.

Holiday Ceramics - No Longer Available
Week Two
Instructor: M. Corcoran
Ages: 9-12
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Cost: $210

Twenty ornaments in all: ten pieces of ceramic bisque and 10 pieces of ceramic greenware.  Create ornaments with metallic colors, glitters, and stains.  All pieces will be fired overnight and sprayed with sealant. This is meticulous work and requires a gentle, firm hand. Instructor’s note: not recommended for younger students or with those who lack patience.

Week Two

Put on a play in a week! Thespians will dive into afternoons of all the essential elements of creating a show from casting to performance. Learn memorization techniques, create blocking, design costumes, and use a variety of methods to analyze your character and engage in a complete rehearsal process. Then experience how this flurry of activity magically morphs into a play for parents and friends to enjoy on Friday afternoon. This intense and fun week includes active warm-ups and a variety of rehearsal techniques to develop physical presence and mental stamina for the stage.

Trash to Treasure
Week Three

Campers will learn to recycle in a different way by using recycled materials to create beautiful treasures.  Snow globes, bird feeders, rain sticks, and terrariums—a new project everyday.  An environmental education program will be presented by Fauquier County Recycle Center—games and stories will allow the campers to learn the importance of recycling.  Recycle—reuse—create!

Technokids II
Week Three

Novices and return campers alike will use computers for several new adventures. Campers will explore digital photography as well as many fun activities including our very own survivor game. Out think, out match and out assemble the other teams to win the title “Technosurvivor”!

Kids in the Kitchen
Week Three
Instructor: J. Koontz
Ages: 9-12
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

If your child loves to cook or wants to learn how, enroll him/her in cooking camp! Campers will learn how to prepare delicious healthy foods in a fun environment with friends. Each day will focus on a specific meal—breakfast, lunch, dinner, and also snacks and desserts. They will measure and mix ingredients, use a variety of kitchen tools, follow recipes, and learn the basics of nutrition, food safety and more! Each student will also create their very own cookbook full of their “favorite” recipes and favorite recipes of other participants. Campers will then get to enjoy eating their creation after all of their hard work in the kitchen! Cooking can help children acquire patience, follow directions, learn team-work and cooperation, while also gaining self-confidence.

3-2-1 Blastoff
Week Four

Previous NASA training not required for this journey. Learn about all the planets in the solar system and the rockets that take us there. Make an edible solar system and eat your way through space. Games, crafts and art projects will leave you weightless! So suit-up and get ready to blast off for a fun filled time in space with our final stop with a piñata that will take us out of this world.

Novices and return campers alike will enjoy this exciting computer camp. Campers will create their own movies, a multimedia concert promotion and compete in the TechnoOlympics.

Want to be a star? Campers will participate in all areas of musical production from acting to set design to costume creation. This exciting week will end with the performance of a lifetime, created by the campers themselves.

Jumpstart Second Grade
Week Five

Week-long enrichment program that will focus on reading and writing skills. Specific emphasis placed on creative reading, writing, and fundamental mechanics of writing. Class will incorporate art projects, games, skits, songs, and snacks all centered around a story of the day.

Creating Harry Potter
Week Five

Do you love Harry Potter? Do you have lots of ideas on characters, villains, settings, and stories like those associated with Harry Potter that you think would be as interesting as the original? Do you just need time and the encouragement of a good writing coach to get those stories down on paper? Well, if all those are true, this course is for you! In this course, examine the techniques that make the Harry Potter stories successful and then  apply them in the writing of our own original stories.
