Loeb Library
The Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 Library
goes by several names... Lower School Library, Middle School
Library, etc. Prior to 1995, the library was located near
the bell-tower entrance where the current music room is
now. Thanks to renovations and a generous contribution from
Jesse and Rose Loeb, the library is approximately 3,500
sq. ft. The present location of the library is between both
Middle School hallways. Three of the walls have large windows
for observing the daily activities. There is plenty of natural
light above the reading area. There are 9 computers available
for student research. Students in PK through Grade 6
come to the library once a week for library instruction,
children's literature appreciation and research as directed
by the librarian. There are nearly 17,000 titles in the Loeb Library collection including reference, fiction, nonfiction, magazines, books on tape and videos. The Library's collection is thorough and diverse in order to best serve
3/4 of the School's population.
On one side of the library, the students can check out books
by Dr. Seuss. One the other side, a student can check out
a book on ancient Roman culture as well as a book on Roman
recipes to add authenticity to a Lower or Middle research
project.
