Lower School

Learning, No Boundaries
Lower School: Service Learning & Leadership
Service learning and leadership development are also important components of the Lower School program. Students collect books and mittens for Head Start students, adopt endangered animals, help with the Thanksgiving food drive and support the Enkijape School, our sister school in Kenya. Leadership skills develop by having children take turns as Classroom Helpers. Blue/Gold competitions begin in Grade 3 when teams compete in sports activities, school spirit and academics for an end of year championship. All third and fourth graders participate on the Director's Council, where Council members focus on ways to make the school and/or community a better place. The Buddy Reader program teams up specific grade levels for reading or writing sessions: PK-3, K-4, 1-5 and 2-8. Kindergarteners also bond with seniors at the beginning of the year and attend several events with them throughout the year.
