Highland School considers the development of physical and athletic skills to be an integral part of a student's education. Sportsmanship, participation, and learning the basic skills of various sports are points of emphasis. Both team and individual sports make up the school’s athletic program.

Grade 5 meets five times each week for 40 minutes. The focus is on expanding and refining skills in movement and coordination. Students also learn more complex skills for individual and team sports and have the opportunity to participate in some competitive intra-squad games.

Grades 6 – 8 meet every day for 50 minutes. Team sports practices occur during this time period with games occurring after school. We have A and B teams to accommodate different levels of interest and ability.
